Understanding People

This is one of the programs that our facilitators love to provide. We first customized it for a company that later went on to be sold at a considerable profit to a much large computer company—maybe Understanding People had something to do with it! In this workshop we teach people how to recognize four different behavioral styles, crossovers and the criteria for identifying each. Once people understand the dynamics of how their own style interacts with others, they take things less personally, are more tolerant and become more effective. The specific skills and techniques taught yield instant results. Through experiential exercises, participants learn how to:

  • Interact effectively with different behavioral styles
  • Understand themselves and others
  • Interact in a mutually benefiting way
  • Create a positive climate and environment
  • Reduce interpersonal stress
  • Formulate positive communicate strategies.

And while the presentation includes charts and matrices to highlight the four behavioral styles, we always like to incorporate humor wherever possible which is why we came up with:

  • “I’ll make a decision as soon as I scrutinize every detail—it will take me about three weeks!”
  • “Whatever the group wants if fine with me—just don’t ask me to make the decision.”
  • “I’m not interested in why it can’t be done—just do it!”
  • “Looks good—feels great—let’s go for it!”
