Brain Lessons–Change Your Brain, Change Your Life

The Most Important Brain Lessons

After 83,000 brain scans, research shows brain function is dependent on physical health. It's involved in everything we do. How we think, feel, act and get along with people. Physician, psychiatrist, and teacher, Daniel Amen, MD, is a world expert on applying brain imaging science to clinical psychiatric practice.  One of the most important brain lessons we can learn is,

The brain is the organ of judgment, personality, character, and innovation. When our brain works right our life works well. And when our brain is in trouble we have trouble in our life.

Your Brain is the Most Complicated Organ in the Universe

Dr. Amen says,

It's estimated your brain has a hundred billion nerve cells. Each nerve cell is connected to other nerve cells. Not on a one to one connection but up to 10,000 individual connections between cells. This means you have more connections in your skull than there are stars in the universe!

Information travels in your brain at 268 miles an hour. And, although your brain is only 2 percent of your body's weight, it uses 20 to 30 percent of your calories. That means a third of the energy from your breakfast and lunch goes to your brain. It is the most expensive real estate in your body.
